Project Team

Happy September! August has been fun for St Luke’s Guiding Lights as a project, we’ve been out and about in the community planning locations, establishing event venues and pulling together the behind the scenes logistics of putting on a large scale art trail and auction.

The sun has been out for us (mostly) and when the rain has come down, we’ve hunkered down in the office discussing merchandise, in-memory sculpture and paint your own sessions… so much to talk about as 2026 approaches and we can’t wait to let you in on some of our secrets, so you are the first to know…

Artists

Are you an artist looking to showcase your work? Bored of a flat canvas?

We are inviting artists to turn our lighthouse sculptures into a beacon of creativity, with bold colours, wild patterns or anything you may dream up.

Our lighthouse sculpture trail will bring a host of colour and creativity to the city of Plymouth in 2026. We have already received some incredible designs through, so thank you to the artists who have already submitted their work but it’s not too late to submit your design too!

Our deadline for our artist open call is Monday the 27 October 2025 by midnight. Please visit our website to find out more and to download our artist pack.

If your design is selected, you will receive an honorarium fee of £1,000 upon of completion of your work.

Your art could shine bright!

Schools

We hope all our schools have enjoyed a well-deserved and restful summer break! If you’re feeling a little downhearted that the holidays have come to a close, here’s something to lift your spirits…

The upcoming academic year is the year of the Guiding Lights Trail!

A very warm welcome to the newest schools joining the Guiding Lights project this month:
🌟 Mount Wise Community Primary Academy
 🌟 Hooe Primary School
 🌟 College Road Primary School
🌟 And another big welcome to City College!

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve now almost reached full capacity, and we couldn’t be more excited about the fantastic mix of educational settings involved — from nurseries and primary schools to secondary schools, colleges, community groups and specialist providers. Every participant helps make this project truly inclusive and inspiring.

Thank you for being part of this exciting journey and for your incredible support of St Luke’s through your fundraising efforts. Your involvement means so much!

A special thanks to all the schools that have already booked a visit — we can’t wait to meet you to talk more about St Luke’s and the Guiding Lights project. We’ll be bringing along our very own Little Lukey, the travelling “little light” beautifully painted by Mrs Murals, who has quickly become a beloved part of our team.

We hope you all a smooth and happy start to the new academic year.
