February Newsletter 2026

Date published: 13 May 2026

February has been another incredibly busy and exciting month for the project, filled with key milestones and memorable moments. The delivery of the lighthouse sculptures was a particularly special highlight. We waited eagerly as the lorries arrived, carrying their precious cargo, and thanks to a fantastic team effort, supported by some truly incredible volunteers, all of the large sculptures and their smaller siblings were safely transported to our painting space. Seeing them in place made everything feel real and truly underway.

This edition of our newsletter also features news from our Schools’ Inspiration Event, another important moment in the journey. We were delighted to welcome our wonderful school partners to the Sound Bar at Tinside Lido, where creativity and enthusiasm filled the room as ideas began to shine.

We are also busy planning our Memory Lighthouse sculpture. This very special piece will stand as a tribute to loved ones who are no longer physically with us but remain forever in our hearts. This shining tribute, Supernova, will feature golden stars set against a night sky background. Supporters will be invited to donate to the hospice and dedicate a star in memory of someone special, creating a lasting legacy in their name.

If you would like to dedicate a name, encapsulated as a legacy on Supernova, please visit:

Look out for further details and updates about this significant lighthouse on social media and future editions of our newsletter.

There’s a great deal of excitement as some of our lighthouse sculptures have made their way to artists’ studios across country.

Over the coming weeks, these blank sculptures will begin their transformation into vibrant and thoughtful works of art, each one shaped by the imagination of our commissioned artists. We can’t wait to see their designs unfold and to share glimpses of the creative process with you along the way.

February has been a wonderful month as we wrapped up our programme of delivering assemblies across schools and organisations in Plymouth and beyond.

This month, we received especially warm welcomes from staff and pupils at Mount Wise Primary School, Millbay Academy, Drake Primary School and Morice Town Primary School. As always, the children listened with such respect and compassion. We loved sharing how we care for our patients and their families, and highlighting the ways we place wellbeing at the heart of that care. The children were particularly delighted to hear about some of the animals who have visited the hospice.

On 12th February, we held our Learning Partner Inspiration Event at The Sound Bar at Tinside Lido. Our sincere thanks go to Stephanie Lewis and Natalie Budd for so generously donating the space for the event. It was truly special to have all our learning partners together in one room, and to see the smiles and enthusiasm as everyone left with their Little Light.

We are also incredibly grateful to Gaz Packer and Friary Mill Bakery for providing such delicious pasties and sweet treats, which were enjoyed by all.

Sponsorship is shining brightly across the St Luke’s Guiding Lights project, and we’re thrilled to welcome some fantastic partners on board. We’re delighted to introduce Roger Young and Porteous Groundworks as sculpture sponsors, helping to bring creativity and colour to our city while supporting St Luke’s vital work. A huge thank you also goes to Significant Signs, who join us not only as a sculpture sponsor but as our dedicated print partner, generously supporting the project with everything from eye-catching window decals to beautifully produced plaques…we are so grateful for their expertise and commitment.

We’re also excited to welcome roaming exhibition sculpture sponsors David and Charles, BuildX and BLOCK, whose support will help take the exhibition out into our communities, this Summer.

There are still a range of sponsorship opportunities available across the project, and we’d love to hear from businesses keen to get involved – please do reach out to explore how we can work together. We’d love to have you join us: this March, all our sponsors will come together for our activation workshop to learn more about the project and how to maximise the opportunity to achieve their objectives – it’s set to be an inspiring and exciting milestone for Guiding Lights.

A huge thank you, once again, to all of our fantastic sponsors and partners for joining us on this incredible journey.
