Little Lights Programme
We are excited to have 42 Learner Programme partners taking part in our St Luke’s Guiding Lights Schools project.
The Little Lights programme is an exciting opportunity to showcase your school or community group to a huge audience, as well as raise awareness and vital funds for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth. This project can be mapped to the Arts Award, supporting your school’s application towards Artsmark status and demonstrate the school’s commitment to creative learning. It is also a fantastic project that can be used to support the schools Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) responsibility and equipping pupils with the knowledge of cultural capital that they need to succeed in life.
Every school or educational establishment that has signed up as part of our project has had the opportunity to paint their own little lighthouse sculpture (1m high and known as a ‘Little Light’). These special sculptures will be on display at The Box, Plymouth, from 7 July until 13 September, surrounded by the city museum and gallery’s permanent collection in an exclusive indoor trail, heralded by a stunning full-scale lighthouse sculpture outside on Tavistock Place. Watch out for lighthouse themed events at the Box through the school holidays.
They will also form a part of the farewell event where all the lighthouses, big and small will come together for the visiting public to get their final glimpse of these breathtaking awe-inspiring pieces of artwork from 25-27 September, at the Market Hall, Devonport, Plymouth. Tickets, with scheduled visiting slots, will be available soon. Whilst the large ones will be auctioned off and go to their forever homes, the Little Lights will be returned to each school to keep forever as a treasured memory of their proud participation in the event.
We have currently reached our schools capacity for the St Luke’s Guiding Lights Learner Programme so unfortunately will not be able to accept any more schools.
